The holidays include botanical excursions exploring different habitats, unique plants, and their natural uses and health properties. We also study animal and bird behaviour in the field giving a deeper insight into their ecology and habitats.
Wildoutdoors offer wildlife holidays all over Scotland including Mull, the Western Isles, Cairngorms and the North and West Highlands. Birnam Guest House is the base for many of our tours. Birnam, Dunkeld is at the gateway to the Highlands and supports a host of magnificent scenery and excellent walking. It is blessed with River Tay walks, Birnam Hill, Loch of the Lowes and The Hermitage.

"We had the most enjoyable holiday. I felt relaxed and at ease among friends"
Roger Wilson
From Birnam Guest House: There is a fantastic array of big trees here in Perthshire,
hardly rivalled anywhere. Just 200 metres from our guest house door, the tallest
trees and parent larch at the Dunkeld cathedral lie 1 mile away and the Fortingall
Yew 25 miles away, reputedly the oldest living thing in Europe!!
We are only 30
miles from some of the most stunning mountains including the botanically rich Ben
Lawers National Nature Reserve, an excellent alpine botanical site and we know just
where to see some of the iconic species such as alpine fleabane and alpine forget-me-not.
What can we say but this is one of our most popular trips and a place we have been
visiting for 15 years with amazing walking and
wildlife, beautiful plants, spectacular
birds such as sea eagles, golden eagle and peregrine as well as marine life, including
dolphins and whales.
A journey from south to north from Vatersay, Benbecula and South Uist to Harris and
Lewis along some of the most amazing beaches, machair (coastal dune systems) with
abundant wildflowers and the most rugged mountains you will ever see. The wildlife
and walking is equally stunning with golden sandy beaches and spectacular birds including
the shy and seldom-seen corncrake.
The Far North of Scotland from Ullapool into Sutherland and the Flow Country is unique and world famous.
This is one of our most popular trips with red and black throated divers more frequent
in the far North and breeding in early summer. We have expert knowledge of the natural
history of this area and its plants such as the endemic Scottish primrose which may
be under threat with climate change.

Note:- The ospreys have now returned to the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Loch of the Lowes nature reserve. Yesterday we saw an osprey fishing above Dunkeld at the Dunkeld Angling Club in the pine forest up Inchewan Burn while out for a walk. http://blogs.swt.org.uk/osprey/
