These tours are operated from cars or small minibuses and involve some walking which is graded below. Standards of Walks Easy Our day walks often come into this category and they are for people who have done a little walking but want to explore more about the local area. We walk along coastal paths, old railway lines and gentle hill paths on generally good terrain. These are generally very easy walks from 1 to 5 hours. These walks often involve a lunch stop at one of Scotlands more interesting cafe's or pubs. Moderate These walks are for people with some experience of mountains and hills, in summer, with ability to walk from 2 to 6 hours per day. Scotland has numerous wonderful mountain walks and we explore the best of these usually on our multiple day trips. These walks often involve a lunch stop at one of Scotlands more interesting cafe's or pubs. Adventurous These walks are testing, over 6 hours per day and may involve some easy scrambling and a head for heights. The terrain is often more challenging as we take to the higher mountains and ridges to explore the alpine tops and wildlife. This includes our Torridon walks and various other itineraries on isolated mountain ranges. Day trips Day trips start at 9.00am from Ladybank in Fife which can be reached by train, bus or car. Generally the tours take all day and we plan to return to Ladybank by 5.00pm. All the excursions are based within a two hour journey of Ladybank. Some two day trips can be organised in advance by prior arrangement and we can arrange transport and food if required. Our guides combine to give you a wonderful experience through the eyes of ecologists and naturalists with a practical approach that you actively take part in. Survey the wonderful extremes of landscape and habitats, throughout Scotland with our botanists and wildlife experts. Wildoutdoors offer high quality guiding in small groups or as individuals with local ecologists and wildlife experts, interpreting the features of interest, wildlife and local natural history as we go. The walks are leisurely and cover from 4 to 7 miles per day as we take time to explore the wildlife, flowers, birds, mammals, insects and geology along the routes. We start from our base in Ladybank, Fife and explore the best of the Fife and Perthshire landscapes on a daily basis. We provide a relaxed and warm environment for you to enjoy a day out in the Scottish hills and highland glens or a coastal walk along the beautiful Fife coastal path. The Fife coast offers a range of headlands and beautiful sandy beaches with dramatic cliffs not unlike the Giant's causeway. The coastal walks are very popular and support a wide range of wildlife with seabirds such as eider, guillimot, razorbill, oystercatcher and ducks regularly seen. The flora of these areas is also spectacular in the early summer with glorious displays of rockrose and vipers bugloss, with cranesbill in the lower dune areas with marram grass. There are large numbers of seals along the coast with lovely estuaries and rolling sand-dunes. Multiple day trips Our mutiple day trips offer another experience from a base of your choice. We arrange itineraries for you to see what you want in a variety of different locations throughout Scotlland. We have excellent knowledge of all of Scotland but specialise on areas in teh central highlands and the Perthshire hills and countryside. Spring is unrivalled in Perhtshire as the ground flora within the colourful oak and birch woodlands with beautiful spring flowers such as wood anemone, english bluebell. The autumn colours are also spectacular and some say unrivalled anywhere. In addition there are some Caledonian pinewoods, where Scot’s pine woods support a rich wildlife including the rare black grouse and capercaillie. The flowers of these areas are also beautiful with crowberry, and heathers adding to the summer and autumn colours. The heathlands and open moorland are alive to the cry of the peewit, oystercatcher and curlew in summer and we may see golden eagles, peregrine falcon and hen harrier. Botanically rich grasslands are abundant in and around Perthshire in places such as Glen Doll, and Caenlochan National Nature Reserve which also holds large numbers of red deer. The River Tay is a passage route for numerous wildfowl and waders and is the breeding ground for salmon and sea trout. We also explore the mountain habitats and summits for the rarer wildlflowers such as purple saxifrage, and breeding birds such as golden plover. There are wonderful old railway lines to explore in the valleys and straths with wild strawberry and raspberry to keep hunger from the door. We also have night visits to a local badger sett, and carry out bat watches, something not to be missed. Scotland is famed for its mountains and scenery and we take you to some of the most stunning wild areas such as the Cairngorms and Torridon.
