Scotland is we believe the most fantastic country to cycle around. The scenery is famous, from the highland glens and mountains to the rugged coastline and sandy beaches. The routes are probably the best in Scotland not only from a scenic point of view but from a safety aspect as well. Wildoutdoors gives you a whole host of ideas for travel to the start of your chosen cycle tour. Contact the Wildoutdoors office or website for details.

Summer in Scotland is usually mild and dry but we can have cold weather so you will need some warm clothes and waterproofs. We recommend you bring gloves and a hat as well as the usual waterproof cycling gear. Touring bikes are generally the recommended type of bike to use although some people prefer mountain bikes with slick tyres. Bikes can be hired in Scotland by arrangement and costs are dependant on the type of bike you require.

Tour 1 Torridon and the Flow Country, Scotland

This tour commences from Edinburgh (various pick up points) where you are transported by minibus to Inverness where we start the tour. The western Highlands offer some of the most grandiose Scottish mountains and this tour gives us time to explore the mountains and coastal villages on the north-west coast in a relaxed way on quiet roads. The Torridon Mountains rise from sea level to over 3,000ft (914m) and dominate much of the first few days. We then turn to Applecross and pass An Teallach, one of Scotland’s most scenic mountains with the coastal beaches and rocky coastline never far away. The journey to Lochinver along the quiet back roads is unforgettable on a bike passing Stac Polly and Suilven in the amazing flow country. Our last stop is in Carbisdale castle, a unique and historic building with a ghostly presence. This tour is fully supported by our minibus and catering team who
prepare most of the food for the trip. This is an opportunity not to be missed, a once in a lifetime experience in some of the most amazing scenery and wildlife in Great Britain.
